Plant Head - Aluminum Rod Mill

Position Overview
The Plant Head will be responsible for the end-to-end operations of a primary aluminum rod mill (capacity 50

KTPA or higher) around NCR. This role involves overseeing the installation, commissioning, and stabilization of the plant, followed by scaling operations to meet production targets while maintaining global quality standards and cost-efficiency. This role will also be expected to provide strategic inputs in relation to the design and structure of the furnaces, equipments, etc.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Commissioning & Stabilization
Liaise with equipment manufacturers and consultants to ensure the technical specifications meet the capacity requirements.
Lead all the phases of plant setup, equipment installation, and machinery commissioning.
Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.

2. Production & Operational Excellence
Define key production parameters into an operating budget and ensure compliance (eg: productivity, melting loss, fuel cost, labor cost, etc).
Direct all manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules are met within the budgeted costs.
Optimize the continuous casting and rolling process to minimize dross formation and maximize recovery rates.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to drive operational efficiency.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure the output (Alu Rods) meets stringent industry standards (e.g., electrical grade or alloy specifications).
Maintain zero-compromise safety standards (HSE) and ensure compliance with Rajasthan's environmental and labor regulations.

4. Supply Chain & Cost Management
Monitor raw material (ingots/scrap) consumption and manage inventory levels to prevent production bottlenecks.
Focus on energy efficiency—specifically natural gas or electricity consumption—to maintain a competitive cost per ton.

5. Leadership & Talent Development
Build and lead a multi-disciplinary team, including production, maintenance, quality, and HR.
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

Experience:

15–20+ years in the aluminum industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (Plant Head or Operations Head) specifically in a Rod Mill.

Education:

B.E. /

B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. An MBA in Operations is a plus.
Technical

Skills:

Deep understanding of continuous casting technology (e.g., Properzi or similar lines), furnace operations, and rolling mill mechanics.
Local Context:
Familiarity with the industrial landscape of such plants from environment and local matters perspective with experience in leading and managing such matters.
