Job Summary:
Join our team as a Linguistics Expert and play a pivotal role in shaping how AI understands and represents Indian languages. This is a unique opportunity to impact the future of language technology by evaluating AI outputs for linguistic authenticity, cultural nuance, and natural expression in English and Indian languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess AI-generated text for linguistic fidelity, including code-switching, transliteration, and dialectal usage between English and Indian languages.
Evaluate register, tone, and pragmatic appropriateness to ensure responses align with real-life Indian language contexts.
Identify unnatural, Westernized, or culturally inappropriate phrasing and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Apply rubric-based criteria to systematically score and annotate language data for quality assurance.
Deliver clear, thorough written explanations of evaluation decisions in English.
Collaborate remotely with a diverse team to maintain high standards in dataset development.
Contribute insights on Indian language dynamics, code-mixing trends, and regional language variations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Localization, or related Language Studies.
Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi and at least one additional Indian language (e.g., Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi).
3+ years of experience in translation, localization, language quality assurance, or linguistic research.
Demonstrated expertise in code-switching and bilingual evaluation (English plus Indian languages).
Acute sensitivity to register, tone, and pragmatic factors in bilingual contexts.
Strong analytical skills in text evaluation and linguistic quality control.
Exceptional explanatory writing and clear communication in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on AI, NLP, or language dataset annotation projects.
Insight into regional dialectal variation or sociolinguistic trends within Indian languages.
Proven ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
