Chief Architect

The role owns the technical strategy for the Utility

AI platform and products, including continual
modernization, exploration of new R&D and technologies,and the use and adoption of GenAI. Our platform operates at enterprise scale, with hundreds of billions of data points processed each month from global utilities. This role’s mission is to deliver a modern, cost-efficient, high-scale AWS-native platform that materially accelerates time-to-ship while meeting the operational and security expectations of regulated, multinational utilities—while enabling a rich, multi-modal consumer experience across channels.

Reporting to the CPTO, you will work cross-functionally across Product, Data Science, Presales & Marketing, and all our engineering disciplines, with responsibility for the thoughtful design, scalable architecture, and iterative delivery of Bidgely’s current and next generation offerings.

Responsibilities

Own architectural decisions and design end‑to‑end: collaborate and shape the technical vision,
strategy, metrics, and delivery of Bidgely’s current and future products and platform.

Lead and grow our team of architects across the organization, with specializations in massively
parallel data systems, ML pipelines, cloud-native Dev Ops, frontend architecture, and GenAI
solutions.

Influence our product and platform roadmaps to accommodate evolving and stretching our
platform into new technologies and patterns, ensuring the architecture supports faster iteration,
new analytical capabilities, and emerging technologies while maintaining operational rigor.

Establish and run architecture governance at scale (reference architectures, design reviews, ADRs, digestible standards) that improves velocity and team independence

Requirements
15+ years in building and designing distributed systems at global scale; proven track record of
architecture ownership across multiple teams in a distributed delivery model.

Unimpeachable, hands-on technical fluency across the modern, cloud-native ecosystem: from
infrastructure choices, deployment patterns, application system design, to implementation strategy.

Design for engineering excellence across best practices in security, scalability, modern CI/CD, API strategy, observability, batch and event-based systems design, and designing for GenAI+ML.

Proven strategy → execution muscle with strong leadership experience, a culture carrier. History of setting long-term direction while delivering incrementally, building trust, and raising the technical bar across teams.

Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills; can make trade-offs explicit for execs and peers alike for design choices, SLOs, technology adoption, and other considerations for regulated environments with global reach.

Nice to Have
Significant and meaningful experience with JVM languages (Java, Scala), Python, and
production-grade AI systems (both ML & GenAI), including their data ecosystems
Demonstrated success in platform simplification, evolution & modernization, cloud migration, and multi-cloud portability using Kubernetes
Deep experience in the AWS ecosystem, including operating across multiple global environments;
AWS certifications are a plus.
