Job Summary:
The API Project Manager is responsible for coordinating API governance execution across globally distributed engineering teams spanning firmware, gateway, and platform domains. This role ensures on-time delivery, risk visibility, and process alignment for API-related efforts across Vertiv's Americas, Europe, and Asia teams. By integrating lifecycle checkpoints, dependency tracking, and cross-time-zone engagement, the project manager enables consistent execution of the API Governance Charter and ensures stakeholder visibility, milestone tracking, and execution consistency across all regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Experience - 5 to 8 yrs
Governance Asset Coordination
Coordinate delivery of governance assets such as the centralized API catalogue rollout and Product Line-specific API playbooks. Track cross-team contributions, enforce deadlines, and ensure alignment to the governance charter, central API portal and standards manual.
Roadmap & KPI Tracking
Maintain the master API initiative roadmap, track cross-functional dependencies, and monitor governance KPIs (e.g., documentation coverage, lifecycle status, CI/CD compliance).
Cross-Team Execution Alignment
Coordinate across regional and product-line engineering teams to ensure alignment on API delivery milestones, lifecycle gate completion, and cross-functional dependencies. Facilitate sync points or working group check-ins across firmware, gateway, and platform tracks without owning product-specific execution.
Lifecycle Sign-Off Integration
Ensure that sign-offs for documentation, security, testing, and governance (as defined in lifecycle gates) are embedded within delivery workflows and tracked as acceptance criteria.
Governance Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate governance reviews, milestone check-ins, and quarterly API Board updates. Ensure executive and engineering stakeholders remain aligned on API readiness and compliance progress
Risk & Task Visibility
Track sprint tasks, blockers, risks, and resource allocations using tools such as MS Project and Smartsheet. Escalate delivery risks and unresolved dependencies proactively.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Experience:
5+ years managing cross-functional software, platform, or infrastructure projects.
Proven ability to coordinate global teams across time zones, cultures, and engineering disciplines.
Experience leading projects involving distributed architecture or system integration.
Tools &
Skills:
Proficient in Smartsheet, MS Project or equivalent program tracking tools.
Strong communication and reporting skills, especially in cross-team technical environments.
Comfortable navigating firmware, Dev Ops, and platform team structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications (one or more):
PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM ), or SAFe Agile certification.
Domain Knowledge:
Familiarity with API life cycles, OpenAPI workflows, and CI/CD practices.
Experience managing delivery across both embedded firmware and cloud platform teams.

Pune, India
This is a global coordination role. Flexibility to support overlapping hours with multiple regions is required
