Senior Apparel Designer – Luxury Wear
Summary

We are looking for a Senior Apparel Designer to contribute to the design and development of Ekaya’s luxury apparel collections. This role involves end-to-end responsibility, from concept development to sampling, with a strong emphasis on handloom textiles, weaving knowledge, and craft-led design. The ideal candidate will bring a refined design sensibility, strong execution skills, and a deep understanding of luxury apparel rooted in Indian textiles.

Key Responsibilities

Handle the end-to-end apparel design process from conceptualization, design development, fabric selection, and detailing to sampling

Research global and Indian fashion trends, silhouettes, materials, and weaving techniques

Develop design ranges through sketches, technical drawings, and detailed design development

Select appropriate fabrics, weaves, colours, trims, and fits aligned with Ekaya’s luxury aesthetic

Apply weaving and textile knowledge to create apparel that highlights handloom craftsmanship

Coordinate with textile, weaving, and production teams to ensure accurate translation of designs

Oversee sampling, fittings, and prototype development; ensure design intent and quality standards

Review samples and fittings, provide constructive feedback, and finalize designs

Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and sales insights to refine collections

Support and guide junior designers when required

Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, production, and retail teams

Stay updated on luxury fashion, handloom, and craft trends while maintaining brand consistency

Participate in internal and external collaborations aligned with brand vision

Requirements

Degree in Apparel Design (Postgraduate preferred)

6–10 years of experience in luxury apparel

Strong understanding of weaving, handloom textiles, and fabric development

Proven experience managing the complete design lifecycle from concept to sampling

Excellent garment construction, fit, and detailing knowledge

Strong design portfolio showcasing luxury apparel and textile-led designs

Proficiency in design software along with strong hand sketching skills

Strong sense of colour, silhouette, fabric, and craftsmanship

Good communication and collaboration skills

High attention to detail and passion for Indian textiles and luxury fashion

Ability to adapt to changing trends while respecting traditional aesthetics

Open to creative collaborations
