The Role of Technical and Improvement Manager

The company is seeking a highly technically technical engineer with broad knowledge and proven experience across engineering, maintenance and project delivery to drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a well-rounded technical background, enabling them to effectively support operational performance, drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the successful execution of engineering and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Technical and Improvement Manager:

Develop and execute a project roadmap focused on continuous improvement of asset reliability and plant performance.
Ensure Cost-Quality-Time delivery of all technical projects.
Create and manage a maintenance project plan and budget as the foundation for technical improvements, provide clear expectations.
Secure structured and disciplined planning and execution of all maintenance and engineering activities.
Build and maintain a team of qualified, motivated technical professionals.
Strengthen collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
Drive plant performance improvements and lead key technical improvement initiatives.
Act as Safety Authority for permits, inspections, compliance standards, and adherence to laws and regulations.
Maintain compliance with Dutch environmental, process safety, and occupational safety regulations.

Criteria of the Technical and Improvement Manager

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical and process engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment. They will demonstrate effective leadership and excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. As a member of the site's senior leadership team, this role reports directly to the Site Factory Manager and plays a key role in shaping the site's operational and technical direction.

A key focus of the position is to drive positive and sustainable change across operations, manufacturing and production. The role will lead initiatives that deliver both technical and strategic improvements, including supporting the introduction and scale-up of new products and enhancing overall site performance.

The successful candidate will also bring a proven track record of delivering and executing engineering and capital projects within high-hazard manufacturing environments, ensuring that improvements are implemented safely, efficiently and in line with operational objectives.

Essential Criteria of the Technical and Improvement Manager

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar).
Proven experience working within chemical or process manufacturing environments, particularly within high-hazard and highly regulated industries.
Demonstrated project management and project delivery experience, including the successful execution of engineering or capital projects.
Strong technical background in engineering and maintenance, with the ability to support operational reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Fluent in both Dutch and English, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and leadership teams.
