Job Overview: SITECH Chesapeake, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carter Machinery Company, Inc., is hiring a Construction GPS Field Technician in Felton, Delaware. The technician installs and troubleshoots machine guidance systems on earthmoving and paving equipment, performs complex troubleshooting and service repairs, serves as escalation point for SITECH team members, demonstrates systems to customers, consults contractors on best practices, and liaises between SITECH and Trimble.
Responsibilities- Install and troubleshoot machine guidance systems on all types of earthmoving and paving equipment.
- Perform complex troubleshooting and service repairs.
- Serve as escalation point for technical issues among SITECH team members.
- Demonstrate systems to customers.
- Consult contractors on best practices and construction processes.
- Maintain technical liaison between SITECH and Trimble.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating, installing and troubleshooting Machine Control Systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with OEM heavy equipment manufacturers (Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, Weiler, BOMAG, GOMACO).
- Experience using Total Station Robotics for grading or paving applications.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional interaction with customers and personnel at all levels.
- Ability to function in fast‑paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self‑directed and well organized, able to prioritize workload.
- Excellent driving record.
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed.
- Proficiency with technical software, databases, and manuals.
