Overview:
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for delivering high‑quality patient care within the Cardiac Rehabilitation areas of Heart Care, under the direction and supervision of the Cardiac and Vascular Services Manager. In this role, the RN may assume responsibility for the daily operations of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and may be designated to serve as the charge nurse on a rotating basis.
This position offers a Monday–Friday work schedule, supporting work–life balance while providing consistent patient care during regular program hours.
The Cardiac Rehab RN actively supports and upholds the philosophy, values, and standards of the Cardiology Department and Beebe Medical Center, ensuring a patient‑centered, safe, and effective rehabilitation experience.
Responsibilities:
Patient & Family Education
Educates patients and significant others using adult learning principles to address individualized learning needs.
Teaches self‑care concepts that promote long‑term risk‑factor modification and healthy lifestyle habits.
Clinical Documentation & Communication
Maintains accurate, relevant, and timely nursing documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
Provides clear written and/or verbal progress reports to the Cardiologist and/or Primary Care Provider (PCP) as needed and upon program completion.
Exercise Prescription & Monitoring
Implements, monitors, evaluates, and documents individualized exercise prescriptions for assigned patients.
Demonstrates knowledge and competency in using technical equipment relevant to the specialty area.
Patient Assessment & Care Planning
Conducts comprehensive interviews including nursing histories and cardiovascular assessments.
Evaluates each patients environmental, psychosocial, and educational support systems to contribute effectively to discharge planning.
Develops nursing care plans that accurately reflect each patients unique needs and clinical goals.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Ensures crash carts are fully stocked, accurately labeled, and within required expiration standards.
Recognizes emergency situations promptly and initiates appropriate actions, including Code procedures, first aid, or CPR, in alignment with scope of practice.
Medication & Clinical Procedures
Prepares and administers medications safely and per hospital policy.
Demonstrates continuous EKG monitoring proficiency, including identification of dysrhythmias and provision of appropriate patient care interventions.
Quality & Performance Improvement
Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives, including evaluating processes, reporting findings, and following through on recommendations.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated teaching experience and strong patient‑education skills, utilizing effective strategies for adult learners.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a critical care setting, with proven clinical competency.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate across disciplines.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and contribute to team success in a collaborative environment.
Case management experience preferred, including coordination of care and assessment of patient needs and resources.
Positive attitude and the ability to support and enhance patient morale in all interactions.
Proficient in dysrhythmia recognition, with the ability to identify and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythm disturbances.
Past experience using the EPIC EHR system preferred
Credentials:
RN - Registered Nurse
BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Education:
RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program
