Job Summary

This is a part-time (24 hours/week), variable shift position at Grady Memorial Hospital and Delaware Health Center. The position is eligible for full benefits.

Minimum Qualifications and Specialized Knowledge
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution (Required)
  • Current Ohio pharmacist license (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification—current or obtained during the orientation
  • ASHP accredited residency or equivalent pharmacy practice experience
  • Pharmacy Board Certifications or other certifications
  • Advanced-level degree in healthcare field
  • Collaborative practice experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (may be required to obtain as determined by manager)
  • Pharmacokinetic drug dosing experience
  • Drug therapy management
Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct pharmacist tasks including dispensing and compounding medications, counseling patients, interpreting prescriptions, managing patient drug therapy, and performing drug utilization analyses.
  • Work independently and as part of a team; demonstrate critical thinking and multitasking; build trusting relationships through strong interpersonal, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health-care practitioners to provide safe, high-quality, and cost-effective drug therapy; administer medications as allowed by state law and practice setting.
  • Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents within area of training and expertise.
  • Provide robust clinical and operational profiles across the following domains:
    Acute Care/Infusion, Ambulatory Care/Population Health, Retail, and Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization.
  • Safety, quality, and efficiency focus consistent with Ohio Health’s Service Excellence Standards of Behavior and Core Values (Compassion, Excellence, Inclusion, Integrity, Stewardship).
  • Support high reliability organization principles and ensure compliant medication use and labeling; participate in performance improvement initiatives and guideline/policy development as applicable.
Responsibilities by Care Area
  • Acute Care/Infusion – Review orders for drug choice, dosage, schedule, interactions or allergies; dispense/compound medications and devices per standards; ensure proper labeling and care plans for optimal therapeutic outcomes (various percentages illustrating workload).
  • Ambulatory Care/Population Health – Manage drug therapy in collaboration with providers; develop individualized care plans; partner with patients and care teams to prevent/manage disease progression; support education and guideline implementation; precept learners.
  • Retail – Review orders, dispense medications, ensure appropriate labeling and billing; counsel on drug therapy and non-prescription options; supervise technicians.
  • Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization – Lead safety and utilization strategies; develop and enforce policies; ensure compliance with evidence-based recommendations and regulatory standards; provide learner development and supervise staff.
