Job TitleResident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA)
Job DescriptionThe Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.
Responsibilities- Report incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (e.g., HCD, RN/LPN, or ED)
- Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position
- Assist residents with activities of daily living
- Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc., as directed by supervisor
- Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts
- Remain calm and competent during emergencies
- Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents
- Follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information
- Assist residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities
- Check on residents, ensuring attendance at meals and activities; check on residents who are ill and report status or concerns to appropriate individuals
- Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers
- Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
- Contributing member of nursing team and follows instruction of supervisor
- Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs
- Ability to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
- In designated uniform during working hours, including name badge
- CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
- Ability to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
- Attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
