Purpose

Manufacturing at Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) is done by people, using materials, machines, tools, and equipment, in a high‑risk work environment. BAC is on a journey to achieve EHS excellence globally, regionally, and at each manufacturing site.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site EHS standards, processes, and programs, including (but not limited to) machine safeguarding, hazardous energy control, fall protection, crane safety, personal protective equipment, fire prevention, emergency response, electrical safety, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, confined space entry, hazardous material handling, industrial hygiene, contractor safety, hot work, behavior‑based safety, risk management, job hazards assessment, waste management, stormwater pollution prevention, and air and wastewater permit compliance.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, identifying root cause, contributing factors and corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain and deliver EHS training programs to ensure employees are qualified and capable of working safely and in compliance with applicable regulations. Coordinate with external training providers to enhance effectiveness.
  • Through routine interaction with employees, ensure an understanding and awareness of BAC EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support the site Safety Representative Team in carrying out their duties, including planning and facilitating monthly meetings, team audits, issuing meeting minutes, tracking action items, etc.
  • Conduct routine inspections to assess equipment, hazards, and environmental conditions. Communicate findings and corrective actions to the appropriate parties and track to completion.
  • Monitor and report on the status of completion of required EHS compliance activities (e.g., monitoring, reporting, training, inspections, etc.).
  • Track and analyze EHS data (e.g., incidents, safety observations, etc.) to identify trends and make recommendations regarding opportunities for improvement.
  • Support site efforts related to environmental sustainability including data collection and reporting.
  • Complete required environmental monitoring (e.g., storm water and/or wastewater discharge monitoring, waste profiling).
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the site EHS Manager or Site Leadership Team.
Nature & Scope

This position reports to the Site EHS Manager. The position also works closely with the site employees and leaders in a hands‑on capacity related to continuous improvement, corrective actions and problem solving.

Knowledge & Skills
  • B.S. degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated EHS experience in a heavy‑manufacturing environment in an EHS Coordinator or similar role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements for critical safety programs such as hazardous energy control, fall prevention, confined space, electrical safety, powered industrial trucks, crane safety, material handling, hearing and respiratory protection, machine safeguarding, and hazards communication.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements such as air, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste management.
  • Ability to analyze workload, assign priorities, maintain focus, and achieve results.
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook, manage stress, and work constructively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trust, relationships, and create a climate that fosters personal investment and excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ analytical techniques and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Effective communication skills (i.e., written and oral).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working Conditions

The working conditions are those typical of a manufacturing environment. The regular working hours are Monday through Friday – dayshift but the role requires availability for all shifts and weekends for periodic meetings, trainings, or incident response. Travel may be up to 10%. Additionally, the position will require an individual to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, work in a variety of positions to perform inspection and training activities while working in both an office and manufacturing (plant) environment.
