Early Childhood Teacher or Administrator needed to teach a program designed to prepare students to attain national level Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). This is the first year that Sussex County Vocational Technical School District will offer an Early Childhood Education CDA program.
Job SummaryTeach two courses in Early Childhood Development: 120 hours of instruction – Hybrid instruction: in‑person and virtual.
Instructor preparation hours.
Portfolio development support – up to 10 hours of support in a course/cohort setting.
Coaching/supporting students with assignments, questions, etc. – up to 10 hours of support in small group, course, or cohort setting.
Course 2 – CDA "Ready" + Application.
Candidate ExperienceFor candidates who have successfully completed 10 hours of CDA pre/support in a course/cohort, small group, or one‑on‑one setting.
Responsibilities- Review and the required CDA family surveys.
- Assist students with submission of their online portfolio.
- Assist students with preparing for their CDA observation, if warranted.
- Assist students with submitting CDA verification to DOE's DEEDS to verify DE ECE Certification.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Maintain organized classroom environments and practice sound interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques including the use of instructional media to ensure student engagement, motivation, and success.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
Must have three (3) years of documented Early Childhood teaching experience. Experience working with adult students preferred.
Terms of EmploymentPart‑time employment: 160 hours in accordance with the school calendar. At‑will position.
