Through our centralized Scheduling/HR Team this role also provides support to The Birches Nursing Home which has 42 residents. Overall scheduling is completed for over 400 employees between the two homes.

Job Summary

As a member of the Scheduling and HR Team, this position provides scheduling support and assists with key human resources functions across the organizations for over 400 employees. This position is responsible for, but not limit to, the following:

  • Day-to-day execution of staff scheduling processes, accuracy of staff schedules and payroll data for employees within their assigned departments/units
  • Ensures that employees are scheduled appropriately and that employee pay data is captured in accordance with established policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions
  • Supports managers by providing scheduling reports, records and statistical information
  • Supports the full cycle recruitment and selection process for all employees
  • Creation and maintenance of employee files and file auditing process

This position works autonomously and requires knowledge of the organization, the four (4) collective agreements (NSNU & CUPE) and operations of specific areas assigned.

Qualifications
  • Post secondary education required (e.g., Scheduling Clerk Certification, courses related to Human Resources, Business or Health Care diploma/certificate).
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a customer service environment.
  • Excellent telephone customer service skills are required.
  • Must have demonstrated experience resolving complex client issues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and email required.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal is required; superior active listening and interpretative skills are required.
  • Experience working in a unionized health care environment is preferred.
  • Scheduling experience is preferred.
  • Human resources experience is preferred.
  • Requires a high degree of customer service, problem solving, interpersonal skills and critical thinking.
Hours of Work

The regular hours of work for this position include working weekends and holidays in rotation and various shifts (6:00 am to 2:00 pm, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and 8:00 am to 4:00pm) as scheduled.
