JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs specialized work associated with operations and maintenance of a water treatment plant to ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements.
- Monitors operations to determine efficiency of the Water Treatment Plant and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Checks for signs of equipment and treatment deficiencies.
- Monitors charts denoting water levels in ground and elevated storage tanks.
- Reviews and analyzes data results and instrument readings.
- Inspects equipment and monitors operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Makes required adjustments.
- Oversees operations of injection wells.
- Maintains all daily logs.
- Serves on standby crew for after-hours emergency work as required.
- Works rotating shift, 24/7/ 365.
- Performs other related work as required.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in working with the maintenance/construction of a water treatment plant system is preferred.
- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, and criminal history background check.
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral job instructions.
- Ability to hear clearly when working around equipment or in street and alley traffic.
- Knowledge of the procedures pertaining to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a water treatment plant or membrane system.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods employed in water or sewer main construction or maintenance.
- Skilled in the use and care of job-related hand and power tools, materials, and equipment.
- Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, other departments, and the general public.
- Skilled in courteously and effectively working with the public.
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class “D” Water Certificate of Competency within one (1) year of appointment.
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class “C” Groundwater Certificate of Competency within two (2) years of appointment.
