Voluntary Action Center of Northern Illinois (VAC) is a mission-driven nonprofit celebrating 50 years of service, dedicated to promoting dignity, health, and self-sufficiency while reducing social isolation through trusted transportation and nutrition programs. Serving seniors and individuals with disabilities across five counties, VAC delivers over 205,000 meals annually and provides nearly 75,000 rides, ensuring access to food, healthcare, and connection. With a $9.2 million operating budget and a committed team of more than 100 employees, VAC stands at a pivotal moment of growth as demand for services continues to rise.
The Executive Director will partner with the Board to lead strategic growth, strengthen funding sustainability, mentor a dedicated leadership team, and expand community impact. This is a unique opportunity to guide a respected regional organization into its next chapter of service and innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred – particularly in public
administration, business administration, social services, public relations, finance
or accounting. - At least seven years of senior management experience in a multi-level organization,
preferably in the non-profit or government sectors. - Strong communication, project management, and technical skills; valid U.S.
driver’s license.
