Responsibilities- A licensed physical therapist assistant who complies with the Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice as outlined by their professional organization and the State of Illinois.
- Direct patient care, teaching, participation on appropriate committees, and departmental process improvement.
- Serve as a role model for therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education and leadership activities.

- Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
- Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers; address questions promptly or direct to the appropriate person/resources; provide directions to help patients and customers find their way.

- Demonstrate teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departments; communicate effectively, respect diverse opinions, and acknowledge others’ contributions.

- Demonstrate creative problem solving and adaptability in treatment to special circumstances, evidenced by team feedback and documentation.
- Demonstrate essential skill competencies in selecting appropriate treatment modalities, equipment and protocols, evidenced by chart review.
- Complete daily notes reflecting patient response to treatment, performance, and status relevant to the treatment plan and discharge needs, as evidenced by chart review and compliance with documentation requirements for reimbursement.
- Collaborate with PT to manage the course of PT from initial contact to discharge for functional progress, safety, and treatment outcomes, as evidenced by documentation and team feedback.
- Adheres to department documentation policy; all notes entered into the electronic medical record.
- Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient’s level of understanding and motivation, as evidenced by chart review, observation, and team feedback.
- Participate in committees, department processes, and special projects in accordance with clinical expertise and individual performance plan.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare team members; participate in internal and external marketing per department expectations.
- Foster a culture of respectful communication and constructive feedback; respond to coaching and team feedback.
- Proactively complete non-patient care responsibilities within established timelines (coverage notes, PTO/schedule changes, bonus forms, follow-up calls).
- Contribute to departmental/clinic educational efforts (in-services, journal clubs, new hire orientation, PI) as per department expectations.
- Actively participate in student clinical or observation programs as a clinical instructor, mentor, or observation host per department expectations.
- Maintain productivity standards per department expectations and flexibility to meet patient care needs, including participation in meetings outside normal hours as needed.
- Associates Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
- BLS from American Heart Association on hire
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Illinois
