Overview
An opportunity has arisen at the Ysgol Westwood site for a reliable, hardworking and flexible Caretaker to join our team, who is keen to make a difference and assist with maintaining the premises and grounds to a high standard. The contracted hours will be 17 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
SiteYsgol Westwood is a unique site that also maintains the Ty Mes building, a large playing field, a large playground, forest school area and outdoor classroom as well as two further outdoor play provisions.
Responsibilities- Provide routine property maintenance and repairs, both reactive and proactive.
- Maintain safe school environment and support school security.
- Self‑monitored role: make decisions, manage time, work with Senior Leaders and the Business Manager, prioritise workload and report performance.
- Maintain communication with pupils, parents, staff and contractors.
- Open and close the school as required (split shift each weekday).
- Seasoned multi‑trades experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly and courteous manner towards pupils, parents, staff and contractors.
- Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services check; registration with the Education Workforce Council for Wales is a legal requirement for some categories of support staff.
Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026. Part‑time, 17 hours per week (52 weeks of the year, annual leave taken during school holidays). Weekly hours:
Monday – Friday, split shift between morning and afternoon. SCP range 2–4. Salary from £24,413 (actual salary £11,216.78). Employment start date: ASAP.
