Capital One is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Principal Auditor to join our Audit team, focusing on the Global Payment Network, platforms, technologies, and related operations (e.g., credit/debit processing, digital payments, acquiring, servicing domestic and international, settlement operations). The role will be hired as a Capital One associate with a near‑term focus on audit execution and delivery for Discover Financial Services as part of our integration effort.
Responsibilities- Plan, perform, and lead large/complex audits at the enterprise level and across diverse lines of business and specialty areas.
- Perform risk assessments of business activities, potential exposures and materiality of loss.
- Design and perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting processes.
- Leverage available data and analytical tools during the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases of audit delivery.
- Effectively review and compile relevant, material findings and recommendations into concise audit reports.
- Communicate audit results to management via written reports and oral presentations.
- Provide significant input into the development of the annual audit plan.
- Design and execute internal control testing for standardized operations of moderate complexity with more than one component (finance, IT, compliance, credit, security).
- Provide risk management advice and counsel to business leadership on best practices.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with line management and auditees during engagements.
- Manage audit work and project resources during engagements, providing feedback to junior auditors as appropriate.

The associate will be expected to travel an average of 10–15% of the time. The role is hybrid, meaning associates typically spend three days per week in‑person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in internal or external auditing, accounting, financial analysis, information systems, compliance, risk management, or a combination.
- At least 3 years of experience in global payment network operations and banking or financial services, or a combination.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Information Systems.
- 2+ years of experience leading audits and performing the auditor‑in‑charge role.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CRM.
- 1+ year of experience performing data analysis in support of internal auditing.
