About Montessori Kids Universe BannockburnAt MKU Bannockburn, we provide a high-quality, authentic Montessori education for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our nurturing and engaging environment allows children to explore, grow, and develop through hands-on learning experiences. As a Montessori Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in guiding children toward independence and success while fostering a warm and collaborative classroom culture.
ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership & Teaching
- Lead a Montessori-prepared environment that supports each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Plan and implement Montessori lessons and activities tailored to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Ensure the classroom is organized, safe, and well-prepared with age-appropriate materials.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes independence and self-confidence.
- Maintain a normalized classroom, ensuring children have opportunities to develop coordination, concentration, independence, and order.
- Build strong relationships with families by communicating regularly about student progress.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide progress reports to discuss child development.
- Collaborate with parents and staff to create a supportive learning environment at school and at home.
- Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers, ensuring a cohesive teaching team.
- Collaborate with staff members to create enriching curriculum experiences.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Participate in two community events per year
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and Montessori accreditation standards.
- Maintain student records and progress documentation.
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures to provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
- Maintain & log 15 hours annually of Professional Development and keep DCFS required training up to date.
- Montessori Certification from an accredited Montessori training center.
- Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, sit on the floor & move classroom furniture or equipment as needed.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
