Position SummaryWomen In Distress (WID) seeks an organized Accounting Support Staff member with strong attention to detail and a passion for our mission. This role supports the finance team’s day‑to‑day accounting activities and ensures compliance with grant and regulatory guidelines.
Days/HoursMonday‑Thursday, 9 am–4 pm (includes 1‑hour lunch). Candidates must have scheduling flexibility, be available onsite for emergencies and critical times.
Qualifications/Skills- High School Diploma required; minimum 2 years of college experience in accounting or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in an accounting environment; non‑profit fund‑accounting experience a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills for detailed spreadsheets.
- Strong attention to detail, self‑starter, ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
- Research and analytical skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of inventory systems and processes.
- Valid Florida driver’s license, safe driving record, proof of automobile liability insurance.
- Assist with Accounts Payable to ensure timely and accurate payments and compliance with budgetary, grant, and regulatory guidelines.
- Enter payables into Abila MIP Fund Accounting system, run checks or ACH lists, and maintain a monthly payable schedule.
- Maintain the fixed assets register, conduct annual inventory of all items, and ensure accurate records.
- Research and resolve outstanding payments with departments, vendors, and clients.
- Support team members and auditors with bookkeeping, clerical duties, and account management.
- Operate payable system to ensure compliance with IRS and grant regulations (e.g., IRS Form 1099).
- Gather American Express receipts and prepare monthly AmEx worksheet.
- Serve as courier for checks and other documents requiring signatures of CEO, CPO, HR, and board members.
- Manage the gift‑card process and ensure proper accounting according to written procedures.
- Pull invoices and backup for monthly grant billings and assist in preparation of County, City, DCF, and VOCA grant billings.
- Process Daily Cash Receipts, prepare deposit slips, enter cash receipts into Abila MIP Fund Accounting system, and maintain accurate files.
- Perform other departmental and accounting activities, including maintaining supplies, monthly/annual closings, preparing schedules, closing entries, analysis, and special projects as assigned.
- Research invoices to prevent duplicate payments.
- Employee must complete the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Core Competency training and achieve a passing grade of 75 % or higher.
- Level II background screening required.
