Job Overview

The Mechanic IV is a highly skilled technical role responsible for the disassembly, positioning, reassembly, testing and painting of moderate to highly complex equipment utilizing a combination of manual, pneumatic and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting, and securing maneuvers. Clean inspect and repair Natural gas engines and compressor components in a shop environment, must be able to adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Be capable of reading detailed prints, use and read micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators. In addition to executing expert‑level mechanical work, will be responsible for working with a team of technicians to install, outfit with testing instrumentation, fill industrial engines with fluids, test run, record pertinent data and decommission the engines once complete.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply advanced mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to diagnose, repair, and restore complex natural gas engines (Including CAT 3600 and Waukesha 7042/7044 in‑frame complete shop zero‑hour overhauls) and compressor components.
  • Conduct all business‑related tasks according to Cooper Machinery Services policies
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Cooper Machinery Services Beliefs, Compliance, and Integrity policies
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
  • Have strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas background as well as the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment
  • Complete Risk Assessments prior to performing all operations and light to heavy weight material movements by means of cranes and lift trucks
  • Complete all required business training and process documentation, as required
  • Be responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safely
  • Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment disassembly, assembly and test set‑up
  • Possess excellent Communication, Teamwork, and Collaborative Skills with team members and basic understanding of working to production schedules / plans
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tooling & equipment
  • Complete required documentation with accurate information for routers, documents and inspection reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by management
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution
  • Minimum 8 year of experience in mechanical test and assembly / disassembly or heavy equipment repairs and maintenance
Eligibility Requirements
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required
  • Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
  • Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
  • Work inside and outside, as required
