The Technician I will perform electrical testing, maintenance, and start‑ups of high voltage substations. Assignments are closely supervised and designed to further develop employee job knowledge and abilities.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switch gear (e.g., protective relays, circuit breakers, power transformers, current & potential transformers, meters, power cables, grounding systems).
- Assist with motors, motor starters, station batteries, alarm systems, and annunciators.
- Perform troubleshooting, problem identification, and analysis. Recommend corrective actions and repairs.
- Generate technical reports detailing services performed, problems found, and corrective actions taken or recommended.
- Represent the company professionally when communicating and interfacing with clients.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding project status and scheduling of manpower and equipment.
- Adhere to a Zero Tolerance safety policy.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Currently enrolled in a university with a graduation date between December 2024 and August 2025.
- Majoring in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. now and in the future without visa sponsorship.
- Prior internship and/or related work experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Power Triangle, basic AC/DC schematics, and connection diagrams.
- Understanding of current and potential transformer functions and basic testing procedures.
- Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and NETA standards.
- Familiarity with metering configurations, circuit breaker types (vacuum, air, oil, gas), and transformer components.
- Basic motor ratings and testing, capacitor bank types, and electrical component symbols.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work safely in hazardous high‑voltage and industrial environments.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and, if possible, a TWIC card.
- Passage of pre‑employment drug, alcohol, and background checks.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% and work frequent overtime.
