The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing functions to support the Company’s accounting processes in complex areas of focus as noted below:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare monthly journal entries for all derivative instruments for which Bank is a counter party to.
- Monitor Effectiveness for all derivative instruments accounted for as Accounting Hedges.
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to the Tax Provision for all legal entities.
- Prepare quarterly journal entries related to Deferred Taxes.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and quarterly reporting related to all CECL ACL Reserves.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of all General Ledger accounts related to areas of responsibility.
- Research reconciling items and proposes corrective action as applicable.
- Communicates inter-departmental reconciling items as applicable, monitors responses, escalates aged items as appropriate.
- Complete quarterly regulatory reporting for both Banks and the Holding Company.
- Respond timely to requests and inquiries from other team members within the department and throughout the Bank.
- Participate in departmental and bank-side projects as applicable.
- Assists with audits as needed.
- Learn and understand reporting in the general ledger.
- Assist with other related accounting functions within the department as assigned.
- Complete all internal Company training as assigned and required.
- Adhere to the Company’s privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting, and/or five years related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA License a plus, but not a requirement.
- Bank experience a plus, not a requirement.
- Experience with Prologue general ledger system a plus, but not a requirement.
- Experience with FIS core processing system a plus, but not a requirement.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite for use in primary duties.
- Basic knowledge of the banking and financial services industry including federal laws and regulations
- Willingness to gain new knowledge and technical skills.
- Intermediate typing skills to meet the production needs of the position.
- Intermediate math skills: the ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze, and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
