Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Neuro

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro position at a Level II Trauma, Magnet-status acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Job Details

• Works in a Med/Surg Neuro unit within a 372-bed acute care hospital,

• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 6:00 PM),

• Required to work every other weekend,

• No on-call responsibilities,

• Floating within scope required as needed to meet facility needs,

• Patient population includes CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases,

• Charting is performed in Cerner,

• Average daily census of 32 patients,

• Schedule requests may be discussed with the manager,

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license required,

• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required,

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,

• Med/Surg setting experience required,

• Cerner EMR experience required,

• Required clinical skills: telemetry/remote monitoring, use of Rapid Response Teams, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin/insulin/PCA medication administration, surgical drain management, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, pre/post thoracic surgery care, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation,

• Teaching hospital experience preferred,

• Trauma Level II experience preferred,

• Royal blue scrubs required,

• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction,
