Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position in Illinois requiring BLS and strong Med/Surg expertise, including telemetry and specialty procedures.
Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital

• Level II Trauma center with 372 staffed beds

• Day shift (3x12 hours), 06:00–18:30

• Expected to work every other weekend

• Float within Med/Surg scope as needed per department requirements

• Average daily census is 35 patients

• Cerner EMR experience required

• Perform specialized procedures for cardiac, GI, renal, IV therapy, medication administration, respiratory and wound care

• Participate in Rapid Response Teams and follow emergency protocols

• Scrub colors allowed: blue, black, or gray

• Parking permit is required but provided at no cost, with paperwork completed during orientation

• Maximum of 5 days RTO is ideal

• Local candidates are accepted

• No on-call required
Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or in application process with expected date of completion

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience

• BLS certification required

• Required skills include cardiac monitoring, use of Rapid Response Teams, remote telemetry, and emergency response

• Experience with gastrointestinal care (colostomy, feeding tube management), pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure, and IV therapy including ports, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care and PICC management

• Proficient in medication administration (heparin, insulin, PCA), respiratory care (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, portable oxygen), isolation precautions, and wound care including Wound Vac

• Cerner EMR experience required

• First-time travelers are not accepted
