We have a repair technician position available on day shift at the ADM Mechanical facility, 2290 N Jasper Street in Decatur Illinois. Candidates shall have experience doing disassembly and assembly of industrial rotating equipment. Colleagues will work in a team atmosphere to rebuild equipment as needed. Overtime will be worked as needed.
Responsibilities- Study blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct repair and assembly
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear
- Disassemble equipment to remove parts and make repairs
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts
- Clean, lubricate or adjust parts
- Repair or maintain the operating conditions of the rotating equipment to OEM specifications
- Record repairs and maintenance performed
- Record parts or materials used
- Accurately documenting failure analysis and repair steps taken
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections or repairs
- Test run equipment after repair and take vibration readings
- Able to work safely in a team environment and be quality conscious
- Able to use precision measuring tools including but not limited to Vernier calipers, OD Micrometers, s, Bore Gauges, and dial indicators
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Exhibit regular and prompt attendance and maintain attendance record in accordance with company policy
- Experience in manufacturing, production and/or similar military environment (preferred)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written)
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- New colleagues will need to undergo on-the-job training to acquire skills and certifications, which will be assessed according to established standards
- Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training
- Participate in company planner operations training
- Equipment training may include but not limited to JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
- Ability to move about or to a work site by ascending/descending stairs, bending, kneeling and prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently
- Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding or other work at heights or in confined spaces
- Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds overhead
- Requires ability and willingness to wear respirators
- Ability to walk up to two miles during the course of a workday over uneven ground surfaces
- Ambient conditions – non-air-conditioned production environment with hot or cold temperatures
- Atmosphere:
Dust, allergens, odors - Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and use hearing protection
- Company provided PPE as required; respirator-required roles may require clean shaven
ADM requires the successful completion of a background check and medical clearance.
Base pay offered may vary depending on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will be paid overtime pay for qualifying overtime hours. The pay for this position is expected to be $29.93/hour plus growth opportunity.
