Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance/Custodian
-Weekends

Department: DISC

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time, $15/hour

Maintain the Decatur Indoor Sports Center facility in order to provide the public with a positive impression of the facility.

• Maintains and sets up athletic and program equipment
• Maintains and repairs building and athletic equipment
• Maintain walks and access in the event of inclement weather
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, burnishes and vacuums all areas of the facility
• Empties trash and garbage containers and collects recyclable items for recycling
• Cleans and maintains cleanliness of all restrooms, floors and rooms in the DISC
• Cleans and repairs vandalism
• Performs painting where necessary
• Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
• Other Duties as required

Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
