SummaryStaff Assistants monitor the gymnasiums, do cleaning, enforce DISC policies/procedures, regulate facility traffic, and work with supervisors to set up for various DISC events. They report directly to the Assistant Manager or Building Supervisor and have no supervisory responsibilities. Staff must be available to work evenings and weekends.
As the staff assistant, the general tasks and responsibilities will be taught during a formalized training period. The training covers safety, staff conduct, patron behavior, suspension policies, general maintenance, and event set up. An itemized training guide will be issued to the staff member, outlining the specifics associated with these job tasks. Keys are to be returned to DISC management immediately following discontinuation of employment.

Duties & Responsibilities- Cleaning of the facility
- Set‑up and tear down of programs and rentals
- Enforce policies and procedures set forth by Decatur Indoor Sports Center Management
- Other duties may be assigned according to building needs
- Rock wall – if not being used assure ropes are tied off, assist with rentals, make sure pre‑use inspection is complete, make sure cleaning is completed, make sure keys are returned, and rock wall supplies are locked up
- Bathrooms – spot check and clean, assure cleaning is attended to if needed
- Follow the direction of the Building Supervisor throughout your shift
- Check FC stations for stocking and evaluate if FC needs cleaning (especially when no FC staff on duty)
- Find tasks/work to do, or clock check with Supervisor and head home
- Other duties as assigned by management
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, set‑up instructions, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
Reasoning AbilityHave the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited "normalcy" exists. Have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. To run an efficient facility, all staff members need to be flexible and capable of taking on assignments not specifically related to their job description. These duties are not intended to be a group effort. One person should be assigned to a task.
