Material Requirements Planning Manager

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Travel: Up to 10%

Caterpillar is seeking a Material Requirements Planning Manager in Decatur, IL. In this role you will be primarily responsible for maintaining agreed‑upon inventory levels to provide a flow of raw materials and components from the supply chain to the manufacturing facility.

What You Will do
  • Ensuring that the environment of the inventory stock room is in line with requirements for each product.
  • Managing staffing, development, and performance management of materials management workers. Ensuring proper labor relations.
  • Defining and maintaining optimal inventory levels. Performing inventory analysis and making recommendations for stock levels.
  • Coordinating maintenance and support of inventory management software.
Top Candidates Will Have
  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • College or university degree related to Supply Chain, or equivalent experience, is desired
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Solid product knowledge
  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills
  • The ability to develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures, especially supplier‑focused Caterpillar initiatives
  • Solid logistics and manufacturing knowledge

Tactical, Strategic
  • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
  • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
  • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
  • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental‑level plans.
  • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
  • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking
  • Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision‑making process.
  • Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas.
  • Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes.
  • Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns.
  • Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.
Logistics Management
  • Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
  • Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
  • Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
  • Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
  • Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
Supply Chain Management
  • Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
  • Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
  • Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
  • Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
