Role OverviewWe are seeking a versatile Power BI Platform Engineer to support enterprise business intelligence initiatives for a global pharmaceutical client. This role combines Power BI platform administration and hands‑on development, ensuring a secure, scalable, and high‑performing reporting environment while delivering impactful dashboards and analytics solutions.
You will partner closely with enterprise data teams and offshore administrators to manage and optimize multiple Power BI Premium Capacity environments within a large enterprise tenant. The role requires balancing platform ownership, governance, and performance monitoring with development of business-facing reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Power BI environments, including workspace configuration, user access, security settings, and governance controls.
- Partner with offshore Power BI administrators to manage multiple Premium Capacity instances within an enterprise tenant.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize platform performance to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Support capacity planning activities and recommend improvements based on usage trends and business demand.
- Monitor system health, refresh performance, and usage anomalies, coordinating remediation as needed.
- Manage deployments across development, test, and production environments using Power BI deployment pipelines.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of reports, dashboards, datasets, and work spaces across environments.
- Implement and maintain enterprise security standards including role‑based access controls and compliance requirements.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, governance practices, and operational procedures.
- Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and data models aligned to business needs.
- Integrate data from multiple enterprise sources including SQL databases, Excel, and cloud platforms.
- Optimize data models and reports for performance and usability.
- Support Power Platform components including Power Automate flows and Power Apps integrations where applicable.
- Diagnose and resolve Power BI platform and reporting issues in collaboration with Data, Enterprise, and Infrastructure teams.
- Provide ongoing support to business users to ensure a seamless reporting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in Power BI development and/or administration roles.
- Hands‑on experience with Power BI Service, workspace management, and deployment processes.
- Strong understanding of Power BI architecture, security, and governance practices.
- Experience working with Power BI Premium Capacity environments or enterprise‑scale BI platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL and data integration concepts.
- Experience designing data models and dashboards for enterprise reporting needs.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed and cross‑functional teams.
- Experience supporting enterprise or regulated environments (Healthcare, Pharma, or Life Sciences preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure ecosystem and cloud‑based data platforms.
