Position Title: Systems Engineer (Database Administrator)
Salary: $120,000- $150,000
Clearance: Ability to obtain Public Trust
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (SQL Server Certified) to provide full lifecycle SQL Server administration and sustainment support for the VA National Acquisition Center Contract Management (NAC CM) system. This role is critical to ensuring high availability, performance optimization, secure operations, and data integrity for a system supporting pharmaceutical pricing, sales reporting, and multi‑agency integrations.
The ideal candidate brings deep SQL Server expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting mission‑critical federal systems.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and administer the SQL Server 2022 production environment
- Lead and execute the upgrade to SQL Server 2024
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain 10+ external system data feeds
- Ensure SLA compliance for database uptime and availability
- Conduct performance tuning, indexing, and capacity planning
- Apply security patches, updates, and vulnerability remediation
- Produce quarterly utilization reports and recommend enhancements
- Support ATO sustainment documentation and compliance activities
- Minimum 5 years of SQL Server database administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Microsoft SQL Server Certification (required)
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Experience supporting federal IT systems or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of database security, auditing, and compliance
- Familiarity with multi‑system integrations and data pipelines
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
