Salary
: USD $18.34/hr – $28.42/hr
The team leader is responsible for guidance and coordination of the needs in their area, acting in the absence of a supervisor/manager, assigning duties, calling staff when extra help is needed, and leading organization during patient volume spikes.
EducationEducation required: High School Diploma.
Preferred: Associate's degree or higher.
- High school diploma required.
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification preferred, not required.
Experience- Minimum of two years previous experience as a Patient Access Associate/Specialist or related healthcare payor, collections, or clinical office experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience within the Patient Access department or previous supervisory experience.
- High degree of organization and ability to prioritize immediate needs.
- Excellent customer service and human relation skills, ability to work with diverse staff, ensuring proper and timely patient care.
- Excellent oral and written communication, problem‑solving, training, interpersonal, and planning skills.
- Self‑directed and highly motivated to perform functions without direct supervision.
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and project computer application software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Project) strongly preferred.
- Provide support, leadership, and guidance for staff on their designated shift.
- Work with the manager of PAS to ensure proper staffing of the area.
- Coordinate staffing for open shifts as directed.
- Coordinate timely patient flow and services with PAS staff.
- Develop technical knowledge of PAS clerical aspects to facilitate improvements.
- Coordinate quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Monitor patient volumes and adjust staffing as needed without manager direction.
- Contribute to positive customer relations and address patient issues to maintain experience.
- Provide training and education to new hires in the department.
- Maintain current knowledge of department policies, procedures, goals and employee progress.
- Coordinate educational needs within the department.
- Participate in ongoing leadership development opportunities.
- Work closely with supervisors, coordinators, managers to ensure great patient experience.
- Communicate with other department managers and PAS management for patient flow and experience.
Assist in performance appraisal of PAS staff, providing input to manager. - Assist with payroll tasks when manager is not available.
- May participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Perform all tasks associated with the PAS department including scheduling, pre‑registering, registering patients, financial collections, verifying insurance, interviewing patients, entering information into software, completing placement duties.
- Perform other related work as required.
