Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality / Test Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite full-time in Decatur, IL
, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
. This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $35.47/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Cullerton Group is seeking a hands-on Quality / Test Engineer to support manufacturing quality and assembly verification activities within a large-scale production environment. This role is highly floor-focused, working directly with drivetrain components, assembly processes, and quality audits to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery standards are met. The engineer will serve as a key link between physical assembly operations and engineering systems, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined engineer who enjoys being on the factory floor and collaborating across multiple functions.
- Perform onsite quality audits of active assembly processes
- Inspect drivetrain components and verify part and process quality
- Document observations, issues, and findings clearly and concisely
- Capture photos and data related to critical parts and processes
- Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective action efforts
- Communicate issues and recommendations to cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, operations, and engineering groups
- Support continuous improvement and quality culture initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related)
or Associate’s degree with relevant experience - 0+ years of experience (internships accepted)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing environments
- Experience or exposure to quality inspection or manufacturing processes
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
- Willingness to work primarily on the factory floor (approx. 90% floor / 10% office)
- Manufacturing or industrial engineering background
- Experience with quality audits, inspections, or assembly verification
- Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts
- Strong adaptability and ability to work across diverse teams
