SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide optimum health services for all students.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requirements Experience

Bachelor's degree is required.

Current Georgia RN license, CPR, and First Aid Certification is required

Minimum of 5 years of successful nursing experience preferred

Employment shall be at the will of the Board of Education.? Annual period of service shall be 190 days.

Essential Duties

Communicates, collaborates and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and adults?

Manages health issues for students

Consults with school staff, parents and students regarding health issues

Acts as a liaison between school, health department, physicians, and other health agencies to coordinate care for students

Provides emergency crisis nursing care for ill or injured

Provides health counseling to students?

As needed, coordinates with school personnel to adequately represent school at Wellness Committee Meetings?

Assists schools with immunization requirements and health screenings for students

Administers daily and PRN (as needed) medications as prescribed and in accordance with established protocols

Adheres to, and assist in training others in, best practices for the management of student health needs associated with diabetes, asthma, food allergies and other know student medical needs for which the school is required to be monitor??

Ensures required permissible health related documentation is entered into the district's system of records

Provides emergency care in crisis situations until first responders arrive

Other duties may be assigned.
