Atlanta Gynecology & Obstetrics, PC has an opening for a

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife. We are an all female practice looking for a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our practice.

The Certified Nurse Midwife will provide medical care, management, and treatment to obstetrical and gynecology patients under the supervision of an OB/GYN. We offer the opportunity for you to work with a diverse group of wonderful patients throughout their healthcare journey.

• Takes part in the initial examination of the patient, monitors the course of their pregnancy, advises on proper health practices.
• Orders tests as appropriate and reports any complications to the physician.
• Prepares patients and their partners for delivery
• Trains mothers‑to‑be in breathing and relaxation techniques.
• Provides instructions in breastfeeding if requested.
• Attends and reassures patient throughout labor, monitors the fetus’ condition, administers medications, notifies physician of prolonged labor or complications indicating the need for possible surgical intervention.
• Delivers infant and checks mother and child to ensure that they are responding normally.
• During the postpartum period gives additional instruction in feeding and care of the newborn.
• Conducts classes for patients and partners concerning pregnancy, delivery, and proper childcare.
• Documents all patient interactions in the practice Electronic Health System.
• Provides advice on family planning.
• Performs gynecological services for patients over their lifetime.
• All other duties as assigned within the Scope of Practice.
• Rotate between offices in Decatur and Lilburn.
• Ability to take one in five to one in six call schedules.

• Capacity to remain calm during labor and delivery to reassure the patient.
• Ability to exercise good professional judgment.
• Good verbal and written skills for communication and collaboration with patients and physicians.
• Sufficient vision and hearing ability (with or without assistance) to effectively monitor patients.
• Ample physical strength to assist during labor and deliveries.

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Registered nurse license in the State of Georgia and maintenance of license
• Master’s degree in nursing – Certified Nurse-Midwifery
• Two years of experience as a nurse-midwife
• Certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives
• Bilingual in Spanish required

• Sufficient physical strength to assist during labor and deliveries.
• May be required to stand, bend, or reach for extended periods.
