This senior management position serves as the certified clinical laboratory Deputy Director for the Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL). Functioning under the direction of the Georgia Public Health Laboratory Director in Decatur, Georgia, this position supervises scientific managers, professional/technical staff and administrative support positions. GPHL consists of two state laboratories primarily located in Decatur GA with a secondary location in Waycross GA.
Collects and disseminates data between Decatur PHL and Waycross PHL. Will serve as laboratory liaison between the two state laboratory locations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directs the functions of the Georgia Public Health Lab
- Supervises Support Services including the leads of offices for CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) compliance, quality system management, and records
- Serves as technical consultant for all services in the GPHL
- Leads GPHL goals and initiatives
- Coordinates lab integration and implementation of administrative and technical changes
- Collects and disseminates data
- Works with GPHL Director to plan and convene partner meetings for information sharing and problem-solving sessions for optimal communication and lab operation
- Administratively directs Lab Managers for leadership development and laboratory performance
Laboratory Administration Responsibilities:
- Provides QC consultation as needed
- Leads preparations for laboratory inspections in collaboration with quality safety leaders and other GPHL professionals
- Participates in planning, organizing, and implementing laboratory programs and changes
- Handles special assignments and projects as directed
- Conducts annual surveillance to ensure that both State and Federal licensure requirements are met
- Provides recommendations and action plans for training of GPHL personnel
- Directs and assists in evaluation of new test procedures
Professional Interactions:
- Attends and participates in professional and scientific workshops, seminars and meetings (as GPHL funding will allow and as approved by the GPHL Director)
- Collects and disseminates data between WPHL and GPHL
- Shares information with Administration and Management team on professional and scientific activities
- Shares information with Lab Managers and staff regarding professional and scientific activities
- Gives lectures and presentations as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Masters degree in healthcare services or related field from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional managerial or supervisory experience in healthcare services or four (4) years of experience at the lower-level Dir Healthcare (HCM
