CO RESPONDERS PROGRAM MANAGER

Job Summary

The Co-Responders Program is a collaborative service of Claratel Behavioral Health and the local Police Department to respond to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis (mental health and/or substance use issues). The goals of the program are to provide crisis intervention services in the community, link individuals in crisis to community resources, reduce hospitalizations, and reduce arrests/incarceration for individuals in need of treatment.

The Co-Responders Program Manager provides oversight and manages the daily operations of the Claratel Co-responders program. The Program Manager is accountable for the actions of co-responder teams and holds co-responder teams accountable for their actions. The Program Manager reports directly to the Clinical Director of Community Based Services and collaborates with other program managers within the community-based services department. The Program Manager supervises staff, fosters partnerships between agencies, and ensures the program's success in de-escalating situations, connecting individuals to resources, and coordinating crisis intervention services.

The Program Manager partners with community resources and law enforcement agencies to conduct homeless outreach and community engagement. The Program Manager provides on-site clinical assessment, crisis intervention, education and support, and coordinates follow up services and connects individuals and families to resources. The Co-responders program evaluates individuals’ safety risk to self or others, determines if involuntary admission is needed and completes 1013 or 2013 as appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, and manages the day-to-day operations of the program. Completes and submits all programmatic reports
  • Conducts weekly check-ins and monthly team meetings with staff and law enforcement partners
  • Trains, coaches, and holds co-responder staff (case managers and clinicians) accountable for actions while in the field, engaging with individuals, and partners
  • Supervises and provides guidance to co-responder staff (clinician, case managers) who are responding to crisis in the field
  • Acts as a primary liaison between law enforcement, behavioral health department, 911 dispatch, DRCC, and other community providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Builds and maintains professional collaborative working relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Provides screening, clinical assessment, mental status evaluation, therapeutic intervention, clinical education and disposition with individuals and their families in the community in response to a behavioral health crisis call
  • Evaluates individuals’ safety risk to self or others and initiates 1013 or 2013 as appropriate
  • Provides therapeutic de-escalation as needed
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions based on standards of care/practice
  • Ability to think quickly and effectively to address an emergency and follow through with appropriate interventions
  • Assists in coordination with a receiving facility when it is determined that the individual needs crisis stabilization
  • Make follow-up wellness calls and visits with clients in the community
