Position: CSU Nurse Manager
Claratel Behavioral Health (formerly known as DeKalb Community Service Board) is an innovative, community-based behavioral health and developmental disabilities services organization located in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia, offering a full range of mental health services, developmental disabilities programs and substance abuse treatment to more than 11,000 citizens annually who are uninsured and underinsured. As a public, not-for-profit organization, Claratel BH operates more than 20 locations in DeKalb County with a diverse workforce of more than 500 direct-care and support staff.

The DeKalb Regional Crisis Center provides crisis intervention and stabilization services for adults, with three levels of care starting with the Crisis Services Center unit. If further observation is needed, individuals are monitored in the Temporary Observation Unit for 12–24 hours. Individuals needing a longer period of stabilization or substance withdrawal management are admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit where ongoing care includes crisis counseling, medication, and discharge planning.
Summary
The CSU Nurse Manager provides supervision and guidance to the nursing team to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based, trauma-informed psychiatric care. This position plays a key role in maintaining clinical standards of practice, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring nursing interventions align with regulatory and ethical standards. This role does not include administrative management functions such as scheduling, payroll, or disciplinary oversight.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Supervision & Support
- Provides clinical and managerial oversight for all clinical nursing operations within the Crisis Stabilization Unit.
- Review and provide feedback on clinical documentation, including nursing assessments, medication administration records (MARs), and treatment plans.
- Support staff in identifying and implementing appropriate nursing interventions for individuals in psychiatric crisis.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical staffing to provide input from a nursing perspective.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, modeling best practices in trauma-informed care, medication management, and crisis response.
Quality & Safety Coordination
- Lead and coordinate safety initiatives, quality improvement (QI) projects, and compliance activities across BHCC services.
- Collaborate with the BHCC Management team to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), adverse events, and incident trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor the effectiveness of Quality Improvement Initiatives and ensure ongoing reporting of program outcomes to team members, agency leadership, and other stakeholders.
- In collaboration with the CSU Manager, organize and conduct internal audits to assess compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Facilitate post-incident reviews, root cause analyses (RCA), and corrective action planning.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to develop, update, and implement policies that promote safety, clinical effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a liaison to quality and safety committees, accreditation bodies, and external regulatory agencies (e.g., DBHDD, CARF).
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
