Job OverviewBenise‑Dowling & Associates, Inc. is seeking a driven and detail‑oriented Assistant Project Manager/Estimator to assist an established team from the estimate through project completion. This role assists with the overall success of each assigned project, ensuring quality, safety, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You’ll manage everything from short‑duration jobs to large, multi‑year projects while working closely with clients, field leadership, and internal support teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Support & Coordination
- Assist team with day‑to‑day project estimating, administration and execution.
- Support project startup activities, including submittals, schedules, and procurement.
- Provide pricing for change orders and project bulletins for ongoing projects.
- Track project progress, manpower, and material usage.
- Attend weekly job meetings to coordinate with field supervision to support jobsite needs.
Documentation & Controls
- Prepare, review, and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documents.
- Maintain accurate project records, logs, and filing systems.
- Assist with change order pricing, documentation, and tracking.
- Support cost control, job cost reporting, and budget updates.
Scheduling & Planning
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules.
- Coordinate material deliveries and vendor timelines.
- Help identify potential schedule conflicts or risks.
Communication
- Serve as a liaison between office staff, field teams, suppliers, and clients.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting notes as needed.
- Support clear and professional communication to upper management.
Quality & Safety
- Assist in enforcing company quality standards and project specifications.
- Support safety initiatives and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Participate in jobsite visits to observe progress and identify issues.
Required
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree, or 2‑3 years in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in construction, specialty contracting, or a related role (internship experience considered).
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and provide quantitative breakdown of substrates in construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in Georgia.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices.
- A background check will be completed as part of the onboarding process, in compliance with applicable laws.
Preferred
- Experience in commercial painting, coatings, or specialty subcontracting.
- Familiarity with project management or construction software (e.g., Procore, OST, Viewpoint).
- Knowledge of commercial construction processes and job cost tracking.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to visit active construction jobsites, including climbing ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work in office and field environments.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
