Description

Job Title: Lab Quality Analyst I

Reports to: Lab Director, Lab Quality Manager, Technical Director

Job Summary:

The Lab Quality Analyst I /Data Reviewer I is responsible for reviewing analytical data and test results from one or more areas of analytical chemistry for accuracy and compliance with environmental testing regulations and methodology as well as verifying that data and test results meet program and client requirements, when applicable.

This position will be remote, however if you are within a 60 mile radius of an Alliance Lab, there is potential for this to be hybrid.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs in-depth and thorough review of analytical data and test results to ensure that the primary scientist's work adheres to established policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and relevant program and client requirements.
  • Ensures proper corrective action is taken in response to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) exceptions in accordance with established policies and SOPs.
  • Follows Corporate and local policies and SOPs to ensure work is performed according to them in all areas of responsibility.
  • Identifies errors and problems in the data and takes action to correct or solve them prior to release of data and test reports to customers.
  • Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and assists with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receives guidance within these areas as needed.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of ATG by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Principles and practices of test methods and regulatory programs related to environmental testing.
  • Understanding of various analytical instruments and data generated from them (could include PM methods, GC, GC/MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, HPLC, LC/MS, IC, Mercury methods including 30B and/or wet chemistry).
  • Understanding of regulatory QA/QC protocols.
  • Use of laboratory data processing and management systems.
  • Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate operations.
  • Computer applications and systems including Microsoft, and particularly Excel.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals, in person and over the telephone.
  • Interpreting, applying, and explaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Using sound reasoning, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Communicating effectively in written and verbal form
  • Managing multiple priorities and seeing project through to completion.
  • Using work planning and organization tools and software.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.

Pay Rate

$50,000-$55,000/annually DOE

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of experience with sample preparation, analysis, data reduction, and/or data review using regulatory compliant protocols for environmental testing, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout laboratory and office environments.
  • Manual dexterity to operate and computer systems.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and environmental samples, using appropriate PPE.
