Practice
Animal Tracks is a small animal clinic that offers vaccines, surgery, dental cleanings, in‑hospital bloodwork, digital radiographs, ultrasound, boarding, and doggie daycare. The team is caring and dedicated to providing quality pet care in a warm, friendly, family‑like environment. We treat each patient as family.

Position Purpose

Our team welcomes a veterinarian of any experience level! As a young doctor we provide mentorship; as an experienced doctor we support your passions. We have a homey, fear‑free practice with three exam rooms, a surgery suite, groomer and boarding kennel. Updated equipment includes in‑house labs, digital radiographs and ultrasound. Hours encourage strong work‑life integration with last appointment at 4:10 pm. Ideally we look for someone who loves surgery and dentistry.

Decatur, nicknamed “The River City,” lies in northern Alabama on the banks of Wheeler Lake along the Tennessee River. The city hosts premier festivals such as the Alabama Jubilee, Spirit of America Festival and Riverfest. Decatur is a great place to call home and welcome friends and family.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples and interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end‑of‑life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
