Position SummaryThe Senior Programs Coordinator supports the effective operation of both the Senior Companion Program (SCP) and the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) under Ameri Corps Seniors funding. This position is a shared role serving Cullman, Lawrence, and Morgan Counties and works closely with the respective Program Directors to ensure program compliance, volunteer coordination, and service delivery.
The position is structured as two part-time roles (20 hours per pay period per program) and is marketed and administered by the agency as a full-time position.
Responsibilities Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)- Under the direction and collaboration of the Foster Grandparent Program Director, assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding Foster Grandparents.
- Complete and maintain Foster Grandparent paperwork and documentation in accordance with program requirements, including eGrants, monitoring tools, surveys, and outcome tracking.
- Coordinate initial and seasonal placements of Foster Grandparents and provide orientation to new volunteer stations.
- Develop and maintain close coordination with Foster Grandparents and volunteer stations and monitor volunteer assignments.
- Conduct scheduled site visits to Foster Grandparent volunteer stations across Cullman, Lawrence, and Morgan Counties.
- Act as a mediator to resolve concerns or conflicts between Foster Grandparents and volunteer stations.
- Assist with organizing and implementing in-service events, orientations, meetings, recognition events, and special events.
- Review and re-check Foster Grandparent payroll data and timesheets through the current reporting system or paper timesheets after verification by the Program Director.
- Assist with data collection, reporting deadlines, and outcome tracking required by Ameri Corps and the agency.
- Support the establishment and coordination of Advisory Council meetings and membership.
- Under the direction of the Senior Companion Program Director, recruit, screen, train, and onboard Senior Companion volunteers.
- Complete volunteer intake, establish and maintain personnel files, and enter volunteer data into the designated data system.
- Determine client needs, apply appropriate programmatic outcomes, and match Senior Companion volunteers to client care plans.
- Enter and maintain accurate client intake information and case notes.
- Coordinate and manage Senior Companion volunteer schedules to ensure compliance with program and grant requirements.
- Monitor volunteer performance and provide ongoing support to volunteers and clients.
- Conduct regular volunteer station visits and maintain communication with community partners.
- Review Senior Companion volunteer timesheets monthly for accuracy and compliance.
- Meet regularly with the Program Director to review volunteer status, assignments, recruitment efforts, and program goals.
- Assist with volunteer in-service meetings, orientations, and training activities.
- Supports and upholds the vision, mission, and values of the Partnership.
- Demonstrates innovation in service delivery, volunteer engagement, and problem-solving.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support program success.
- Work Relationships & Supervision
- Reports directly to the Senior Companion Program Director and the Foster Grandparent Program Director.
- Maintains regular interaction with volunteers, volunteer stations, clients, community partners, and agency staff.

- Participates in required orientation and in-service training sessions.

- Maintains up-to-date volunteer and client documentation and outcome reporting.
Mature understanding of senior adults and the needs of low-income families. Strong organizational, time management, and data management skills with attention to detail. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (including Excel) and program data systems. Flexibility, adaptability, and openness to feedback and collaborative problem-solving.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with minimal safety issues. Frequent travel to service site meetings in the three-county area. This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and minimal lifting. This position required a valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, safe driving record and an ABI/FBI background check clearance.
