About the PositionIn your role as a Heavy-Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on Industrial vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.
Job DetailsPosition: Maintenance Technician
Pay: $30 - $32 per hour plus union fringes.
Total hourly package $48 - $52
Location: Dearborn, MI
* $3,000 Sign On Bonus
Responsibilities- Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Performs engine repair and maintenance
- Performs welding and fabrication
- Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools
- Performs electrical repairs
- Assists with DOT inspections
- Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment
- Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary
- Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime
- Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner
- Troubleshoots emissions issues
- Actively solves problem
- Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records
- Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
- Understands work orders and labor time standards
- Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
- Minimum two years’ experience as a heavy-duty technician
- Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
