Job Description & How to Apply Below
As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.
In this position...
As a PTME Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in bringing Ford's next generation of powertrain technology to life. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development, implementation, and optimization of engine assembly processes and tooling. From initial virtual design and vendor management to on-site launch execution, you will ensure our assembly lines are engineered for world-class quality, efficiency, and safety.
This role is the vital link between product design and physical production, requiring a blend of technical expertise, project management, and cross-functional leadership.
PTME Manufacturing Engineer - Engine Assembly Systems
What you'll do...
* Collaborate on the development of production tooling and facility layouts optimized for specific product requirements and manufacturing processes.
* Author and maintain comprehensive assembly process instructions that guarantee adherence to quality standards and cycle time targets.
* Integrate Lean Manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, eliminate waste, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
* Collaborate with external partners (Machine Builders, Vision System Integrators, and Robotics vendors) to implement advanced automation and process control solutions.
* Deliver cycle line layouts and workstation designs, ensuring equipment and operators are fully prepared for launch.
* Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assembly tooling, including specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and final site sign-off.
* Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds to identify and mitigate production risks prior to physical implementation.
* Orchestrate new model launches, providing on-site plant support to ensure a seamless transition from design to full-scale production.
* Identify and resolve complex feasibility issues across Assembly, Testing, Controls, Ergonomics, and Safety.
* Partner with cross-functional teams-including Purchasing, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L)-to align program goals.
* Analyze component data to ensure all parts are dimensionally in-spec and understand the systemic impact of tolerances on final assembly.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing quality, reducing costs, and optimizing labor efficiency.
* Communicate project status and technical roadblocks effectively through formal management presentations and data-driven reporting.
