Software Engineering Manager – Ford Motor Company

The Manufacturing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Product Management Supervisor role focuses on overseeing the ongoing development, deployment, and management of IT products built on the Ford IIoT Platform. The position manages multiple development teams working on expanding the Zone Control Center product suite to deliver best‑in‑class functionality to plant floor users. You will also help build the platforms that power our plants, enabling real‑time insights and resilient operations that scale with the future of mobility.

• Deliver product functionality expansions and deployments to additional facilities worldwide.
• Day‑to‑day management of development teams and team members (approximately 12 team members).
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to scope future capabilities and new products as required.
• Oversee design and development work with the assistance of product‑specific product managers.
• Manage engagement with international manufacturing sites as the product footprint expands globally.
• Manage product metrics for consumption by IT management and manufacturing management to assess value.
• Maintain a steady rolling backlog of product features in conjunction with business partners.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related manufacturing field; master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in software development.
• 2+ years of people‑leadership experience in application development.
• Understanding of Agile methods and best practices.
• Data‑driven mindset for decision‑making and prioritization.
• Internal and external management skills for managing cross‑team capabilities.
• Clear communication style both laterally to business partners and upwards to management.
• Ability to develop deep understanding of product functionality to provide high‑level guidance to development teams.
• Ability to travel occasionally (1–2 months) to SE Michigan Ford manufacturing facilities to meet with plant personnel and end users.

• Cloud deployment/CI/CD technologies (GCP, Jenkins, Tekton, etc.).
