Data Engineering Engineer ; Google Cloud Platform

Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). This role requires deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform to build secure, efficient, and production‑ready data solutions while optimizing performance and ensuring strong data governance.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $65/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion and curation pipelines using Python, SQL, DBT/Dataform, and modern cloud tools.
• Architect end‑to‑end data flows on Google Cloud Platform—leveraging Big Query, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions—to ensure secure, reliable, and high‑performance data delivery.
• Implement strong data governance, access controls, and security best practices to protect sensitive data across cloud environments.
• Automate workflows and infrastructure provisioning using Astronomer and Terraform, promoting best practices in Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Continuously monitor, optimize, and enhance pipeline performance, cost efficiency, and scalability across Google Cloud Platform data platforms.
• Collaborate with architects and cross‑functional teams to define standards, communicate technical decisions, and ensure high‑quality data engineering solutions.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 5–7 years in Data Engineering or Software Engineering, including at least 2 years building and deploying cloud‑based data platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Java with hands‑on experience designing cloud‑native pipelines using Google Cloud Platform tools such as Big Query, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
• Experience with SOA/microservices architectures and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, along with CI/CD automation frameworks.
