Dearborn, MI, United States (Hybrid)

Job Description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

The Customer Digital Account and Consent Product line is led out of Ford's Global Data, Insights and Analytics (GDIA) skill team. This product line develops and manages a set of customer-facing products that are real-time, high-throughput, and global in nature. These products provide key functionality for customer-facing applications such as Ford Pass, Lincoln Way, and eCommerce. The products enable the use of connected vehicle information for insights creation, enhanced customer experiences, and ensure compliance with global regulations pertaining to customer data privacy and consent.

Our key products include:

  • Digital Account Platform (CAP Global & CAP China):
An Enterprise account management ecosystem providing a best-in-class consumer experience by managing online profile, vehicle, and address book information in real-time.
  • CLIMES (Central Legal Information Management System):
The master system for consumer-facing legal language text and internal data usage purposes.
  • Consent Platform:
The master system of record for all consumer consent globally, encompassing multiple transactional and data products.

In this position...

As a Software Engineering Manager within GDIA, you will lead the engineering organization responsible for the Customer Digital Account & Consent Platform. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, architectural standards, and operational health of mission-critical systems that power Ford’s global digital ecosystem. This is a leadership position requiring a balance of deep technical expertise and organizational management.

You will lead a high-performing team of approximately 15 software engineers, driving the delivery of scalable, multi-cloud API microservices while fostering a culture of software craftsmanship and continuous improvement. This role requires a high-caliber leader who can balance hands-on technical guidance with strategic organizational leadership, ensuring our platforms are scalable, secure, and resilient.

Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week

Responsibilities

What you’ll do...

  • Engineering Leadership & Architecture
    • Lead the design and development of highly scalable, global microservices, ensuring architectural integrity and adherence to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Clean Code principles.
    • Drive the technical strategy for cloud-native infrastructure (GCP), optimizing for performance, cost-efficiency, and global availability while managing technical debt and evolutionary architecture.
  • Site Reliability & Operational Excellence
    • Establish and uphold rigorous SRE practices, including defining SLOs/SLAs, enhancing observability, and leading blameless post-mortems to drive continuous system improvement.
    • Champion automation across the lifecycle—from CI/CD pipelines to automated infrastructure to eliminate operational toil and accelerate delivery velocity for partner engineering teams.
  • People Development & Strategic Execution
    • Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and psychological safety across global, matrixed teams.
    • Partner closely with Product Management and executive stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical execution plans, managing resource allocation and delivery timelines for high-impact initiatives.
