Switch Component Design & Release Engineer – Automotive Product Development (Hybrid)
Advantage Technical is hiring a Switch Component Design & Release Engineer on behalf of a global leader in the automotive industry known for innovation, advanced vehicle systems, and high-volume production excellence. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, software, and vehicle‑level system performance, contributing directly to components used across the full vehicle portfolio.
Position OverviewThis engineer will lead the design, development, and release of electromechanical switch components used throughout the vehicle. Working within a highly collaborative, cross‑functional environment, you will interface with program teams, suppliers, studio, ergonomics, purchasing, and quality to ensure components meet performance, cost, quality, and customer expectations. The role delivers a true Design & Release (D&R) experience from concept through production launch.
WorkSchedule
- Hybrid:
In office 4 days per week (Monday‑Thursday) - Some travel required during program launch phase
- Design, develop, and release automotive switch components aligned to global product development system milestones
- Lead full‑service suppliers (FSS) through DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D, and foundational program documentation
- Create component specifications, drawings, and quality documents
- Conduct technical design reviews and support issue resolution
- Manage program timelines, supplier deliverables, and cost targets
- Support vehicle and supplier launch activities, including plant and supplier visits
- Utilize product development tools such as FEDE, WERS, JIRA/JAMA, eFDVS, and CDP&R
- Drive continuous improvement using lessons learned
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in design and release of electromechanical or electrical components
- Automotive experience with switches or similar electrical/electronic components
- Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment
- Master’s degree in Engineering
