Facilities Operations Senior Manager

Do you want to join a team that's changing the world? We’re seeking a Facilities Operations Senior Manager with a strong background to lead a Facilities Operations and Facilities Services Team and contribute to operational excellence, safety, and service quality across multiple facilities. This role is with Panasonic Energy as we expand to De Soto, Kansas, building the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory.

• Lead and develop a 50+ person Facilities Operations and Facilities Services Team, including Facilities Services, Utility/Systems Operations, Shift Supervisors, Command Center Lead Operators, and Operations Technicians.
• Oversee day-to-day operational activities to ensure reliable facility performance and service excellence.
• Champion best practices, company policies, and operational standards to drive accountability and excellence.
• Set strategic priorities for Facilities Services, manage work requests, and oversee tenant improvements.
• Support Operations Shift Supervisors in staffing, scheduling, and cost management while mitigating operational risks.
• Provide strategic direction and alignment between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Construction, and Design Teams.
• Develop and enforce procedures, work instructions, and best practices; drive continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency opportunities.
• Guide professional growth of direct reports through coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews; foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Promote clear communication of goals, expectations, and performance standards across the Facilities Operations Team.
• Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, Construction, Design, EHS, HR, and Procurement to align resources and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and financial regulations; partner with EHS for audits and training.
• Manage the Facilities Operations budget and monitor key performance metrics (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people).
• Maintain inventory and procurement records; coordinate with vendors and report monthly trends to management.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering, Public Administration or related field

Essential

Qualifications:

• 10+ years in Facilities operations/site services in an industrial manufacturing setting
• Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated managerial experience
• Ability to build, lead, and develop teams
• Strong leadership, organizational, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Power BI; ability to collect, analyze, and present data
• Ability to create KPI dashboards and charts
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma process improvement
• Ability to evaluate systems and technologies to maximize resource efficiency
• Strong planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and follow up with minimal direction
• Decision-making ability under obstacles and creative problem-solving
• Strong work ethic and customer service focus
• Willingness to work outside of comfort zone as needed
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Working-level English proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

• 15 years’ experience as a Facilities, Construction or Project Manager for large, complex facilities
• Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
• Alignment with Panasonic’s core principles

Preferred Certification:

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
