Job Summary:
The Facilities Electrical Engineer II oversees the full lifecycle of power distribution systems, including the design, installation, modification, and commissioning of new construction and upgrades. It provides operational leadership by developing maintenance programs, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. The position manages contractors, coordinates cross-departmental projects, and delivers engineering consulting services to support production needs. Acting as system owner for electrical operations, it ensures safe, efficient, and reliable facility performance.
Works independently on routine assignments and impacts projects within the functional area.
Essential Duties:
Functional Operations
- Lead planning, design, installation, modification, and commissioning of power distribution systems for new construction, upgrades, and renovations
- Serve as system owner for facility electrical operations, including load balancing, arc flash studies, and power quality analysis
- Maintain and manage electrical system documentation, including as-built drawings and design specifications
- Analyze electrical system usage through monitoring and power management software
- Expands technical depth; handles moderately complex problems
- Manages work streams or small projects
Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Audit power distribution systems and implement corrective actions to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency
- Manage and support energy efficiency and load optimization programs
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend system upgrades, replacements, or expansions
- Solves moderately complex problems with limited guidance
- Suggests improvements to designs or processes
Training & Team Support
- Guide and support maintenance and engineering staff through technical leadership and subject-matter expertise
- Develop and oversee operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and corrective action plans
- Provide 24/7 technical support for facility electrical systems
- Shares knowledge with peers
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules while coordinating contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Provide engineering consulting, feasibility studies, and installation packages for electrical system hook-ups, relocations, and demolitions
- Manage electrical projects from design through safe shutdown and execution, ensuring coordination across departments
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines and Panasonic sites to share best practices and standardize approaches
- Communicates with cross-functional partners
- Uses sound judgment on moderately complex issues
Quality, Safety, & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements
